Important: When charging your tractor's battery, use a charger designed for 12 Volt lead-acid batteries.
Read your battery charger's Owner's Manual prior to charging your tractor's battery. Always follow its instructions and heed its warnings.
If your tractor has not been put into use for an extended period of time, charge the battery as follows:
- Set your battery charger to deliver no more than a maximum of 6 amperes.
- If your battery charger is an automatic shut-off style, charge the battery until the charger indicates that charging is complete.
- If the charger is not automatic, charge the battery 8-12 hours.
Storage Note: Batteries are sensitive to storage time and extreme temperatures. Take special care of the battery during any periods of non-use that is expected to last for more than 30 days and/or may experience exposure to freezing temperatures. In extremely cold temperatures it is recommended to remove the battery from the unit and store in a warm dry location. Charge the battery before storing and before putting it back into service. Consider re-charging the battery during this storage period, especially if storage lasts longer than 30 days.
WARNING! Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.
WARNING! Batteries give off an explosive gas while charging. Charge the battery in a well ventilated area and keep away from an open flame or pilot light as on a water heater, space heater, furnace, clothes dryer or other gas appliances.
